Tony Heming has stepped down from his position as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Chief Curator, ending his tenure just over a year into a two-year contract, as confirmed by the PCB.
An Experienced Hand in Pitch Preparation
Heming, an Australian pitch expert with decades of experience, joined the PCB in July 2024. As Chief Curator, he was responsible for preparing and maintaining cricket pitches across the country, ensuring they met international standards and offered a fair balance between bat and ball. He also oversaw ground staff and planned surfaces for different formats—from T20S to five-day Tests.
His work included preparing venues for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, a major event on Pakistan’s cricket calendar, and pitches for World Test Championship matches against Bangladesh and England.

The PCB confirmed his resignation in a brief statement, citing “personal reasons” and offering no further comment.
It has since been confirmed that Heming has rejoined the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as Head of Turf Management — a role he previously held before moving to Pakistan.
BCB Director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu said:
“Tony Heming is being appointed as Head of Turf Management. He has worked in Bangladesh before, and we are bringing him back on a two-year contract.”

In his 13 months with the PCB, Heming oversaw pitch preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and the World Test Championship matches, often under tight deadlines and varying weather conditions.
