Javed Miandad Criticises Selectors Over Babar Azam’s Asia Cup 2025 Omission

Pakistan cricket fans were left shocked after the Asia Cup 2025 squad announcement, which did not include star batter Babar Azam. The bold decision has sparked heated debate, and legendary cricketer Javed Miandad didn’t hold back his criticism of the selectors.

“Class Is Permanent” – Miandad Defends Babar

Miandad believes that form should never overshadow talent.

“Babar Azam is a great player. Ups and downs are part of the game, but class is permanent,” he said.

Miandad Questions Selectors’ Credentials

Going further, Miandad openly questioned the credibility of those making the calls.

“Some of these people haven’t even played at this level — unko kya nazar ayega babar jese player mai?”

What the Selectors Say

On the other side, selectors have defended their move. They argue that Pakistan needs to try out new batting combinations and bring in players with higher strike rates.

Coach Mike Hesson also backed the decision, saying the team wants to build more aggressive options and not rely too heavily on one star batter.

Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2025 Fixtures

Miandad’s Warning for Pakistan

Miandad warned that leaving out Babar Azam could come back to haunt the team:

“Big players win you big matches. If you don’t back them, the team will suffer at crucial moments.”
